The Heart of America Contact Lens Society (HOACLS) Vision Service Award is presented annually to an individual or group who exhibits extraordinary dedication and untiring service to the profession of Optometry. The 2013 honoree is no exception. The Board of Directors is proud to present the 2013 Vision Service Award to Mr. David McBride, Executive Director of the Nebraska Optometric Association. Dave McBride has quietly, but solidly worked for and helped to further the profession, not only on a state level, but on a national and regional level for close to 25 years. He is also Executive Director of the North Central States Optometric Council since 1989, and of the Nebraska Foundation for Children's Vision since 2000. Mr. McBride is always looking out for the future of optometry and the associations, pushing the organizations to the next level in terms of strategic thinking and member resources. He has led the NOA through two scope enhancements, passage of a children's vision law and a continuing effort to further expand the scope of optometry in Nebraska. |
