Thank you for the opportunity to provide this brief introduction to the Heart of America Contact Lens Society (HOACLS). If you have attended an annual Congress you know that The “Heart” is a place for colleagues to meet with old friends, classmates, and enjoy a fabulous exhibit hall while participating in an outstanding educational program. If this is your first introduction to us let me welcome you to what I hope becomes a tradition in your professional endeavors.
Founded fifty years ago with forty original members, the HOACLS is coordinated by a 12 member volunteer Board that has demonstrated an uncompromising commitment to deliver an engaging and informative meeting within a weekend setting. Kansas City with relatively low costs for lodging and a convenient Midwest location allows us to provide attendees with one of the best continuing education values available anywhere.
We are also committed to the future of our great profession. With the support of our member doctors, exhibitors, and corporate sponsors, the “Heart” was able to provide scholarships and educational grants totaling nearly $100,000 last year.
It is my hope that this web site answers your questions about our organization and attracts you to a future meeting. If you have questions or suggestions not addressed in these pages, feel free to contact me by email at president2@hoacls.org.
